Return to one familiar place
Choose a short stretch of woodland that you can revisit. Use a recognisable tree or path junction as your starting point and photograph the same view each time. Record the ground conditions, fallen leaves and any fungi you notice. A visit with no visible mushrooms still belongs in your journal: it gives your next observation something to compare with.
A year of looking closer.
Nature lovers who want a reason to revisit local woodland throughout the year.
Seasonal observation and photography only. The guide does not identify species or judge edibility, and the photographs show woodland change rather than serving as identification keys.
About this guide
Is this a printed book?
No. It is an English-language digital guide you download and keep. A printed book is not included.
Can I buy just this one?
Yes. Each OSTARA guide is sold individually for £14.99, and the others are there whenever a different subject interests you.
Do I need previous experience?
No. The guide is written for beginners and curious readers, with a clear focus on one subject.
Does it tell me which wild mushrooms are safe to eat?
No. The woodland guides are about observation, photography and seasonal change, and the kitchen guide uses shop-bought mushrooms. No OSTARA guide identifies species or makes edibility decisions.
Is a growing kit included?
No. Growing Oyster Mushrooms is a digital guide; the ready-to-fruit kit and any other materials are purchased separately and come with their own instructions.
Can I read a sample first?
Yes. The chapter list and a sample passage are on this page, as selectable text.
English PDF, delivered as a download. No printed book, growing kit, equipment or ingredients are included. The woodland guides are about observing and photographing fungi: they do not identify species and they make no edibility decisions, so never eat a wild mushroom on the basis of a photograph or a written description. The growing guide is written around commercial ready-to-fruit oyster kits and the instructions supplied with your own kit always take priority; the kitchen guide uses cultivated mushrooms bought from food retailers.
